It was a magical evening that started with Dr. B.N. Goswamy’s extraordinary lecture on the work of the masterful 18th century painter, Manaku of Guler. Drawing upon his vast store of knowledge, he covered scenes from Manaku’s Ramayana, Gita Govinda, and Bhagwat Purana series of painting, along with poetic cross-references.

Taking off on this theme, Malavika Sarukkai performed two pieces; one on the story of Vishnu’s Varaha avataar, and the second on the 8th century bhakti poetry of Andal.
