On 22nd evening, Sahachari Foundation Events was proud to be associated with the NCPA and Shapoorji Pallonji production of Mughal-e-Azam. It was a spectacular theatrical rendition of the cinema classic on a scale never attempted before in Indian theatre. The stage version revived the tale of doomed love between Prince Salim and the courtesan Anarkali at Emperor Akbar’s court. It combined the drama, poetry, music and grandeur of the film, with the latest stage technology.
Feroz Abbas Khan directed the production, with extravagant set designs by Neil Patel, and Manish Malhotra designed the lavish costumes. The play retained the original hit songs sung live by the characters of Anarkali and Bahar.
The event was an exhilarating experience.
