Having journeyed for 50 days through the Himalayas, music director and composer, Shantanu Moitra, was inspired to create musical compositions that were brought to the stage in an event titled ‘Song of the Himalayas’.
The 8 musical compositions had contemporary sounds using poetry, folk tunes, Sanskrit shlokas, Buddhist chants and instrumental music, interwoven with stories and breathtaking visuals of the scenery at 14,500 feet.
Ani Choying, a Buddhist nun from Nepal, classical vocalist Kaushiki Chakraborty, flautist Ashwin Shrinivasan, sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee, Daniel on the key-board and guitarist Ankur Mukherjee, performed in the ensemble with Moitra.
The peace and spirituality of the glorious Himalayas seemed to have touched several chords in the audience.
