Odissi dancer Sujata Mohapatra commenced the evening with a riveting half-hour presentation of select ashtapadis from Jayadeva’s poetic text: Gita Govinda. The iconic choreography of the verses was by Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra with music compositions by Bhuvaneswar Mishra.

In the illustrated talk that followed, Dr. B. N.Goswamy used exquisite slides of miniature paintings and poetic references from the Gita Govinda. The distinguished art historian brought viewers into close contact with each work, making them feel the texture of its form and thought, and taste its essence or rasa.
