Delving into myriad dimensions of the river Ganga, the renowned dancer premiered this new solo production in Mumbai. She depicted Ganga as the mythic river emerging from Siva’s matted locks; the Eternal River, a witness to the relentless cycle of birth and death, sacred and profane, and finally, the river surrendering her identity to the ocean and merging with it, reflecting a profound philosophical truth of Advaita.
Watching the dancer perform Ganga Nitya Vaahini on Mauni Amavasya day of the Mahakumbh brought a confluence of art, music, dance, drama, and had a spellbinding effect on the audience. It was a magical and deeply moving performance.
